Weedeater is an American sludge metal band formed in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1998. Known for their heavy, down-tuned grooves and gritty aesthetic, the band refers to their unique blend of stoner rock, doom metal, and sludge as "weed metal". The band was founded by front man Dave "Dixie" Collins (vocals/bass) following the dissolution of his cult sludge group Buzzov•en. Alongside longtime guitarist Dave "Shep" Shepherd, Collins has anchored Weedeater through decades of raw, high-energy live performances characterized by his notorious on-stage rituals and thick, syrupy bass tones.
