Proudly hailing from Minneapolis, Kostnatění (COAST-notch-in-nee, "ossification" in Czech) has a single goal as a band: continuously push extreme metal further. Formed in 2017 by D.L., the band expanded to a full three-piece lineup in 2025 with drummer J.G. and bassist K.C. Originally formed to channel the mystical energies of the obscure black metal label Rhinocervs, the vision of Kostnatění has unfolded kaleidoscopically to incorporate Middle Eastern and African folk music, progressive metal, noise rock, and more, distilled into an unmistakable form that is abstract, psychedelic, and nevertheless coherent. The band has released three albums to date, including the critically-acclaimed "Úpal" (2023) and "Přílišnost (Excess)" (2025), both on Willowtip Records.
