Tobias the Owl
Tobias the Owl
Tobias the Owl is a band based on the songs of Toronto native, turned Seattle resident, Elijah Dhawan. The band spans indie, folk, roots, and acoustic genres. Since its inception, the band has earned international recognition, with songs being covered by artists like Jonah Tolchin and Deer Tick. Tobias the Owl has also been named "Best Songwriter" in the 2014 Seattle Sound Music Awards and "Best Singer-Songwriter" in the 2014 Toronto Independent Music Awards. After earning critical acclaim with their first EP, Painting Zeroes by Your Name, the band is currently recording their first, full-length album, being produced by Scott Seiver (Aimee Mann, Tenacious D, Flight of the Conchords) and Marvin Etzioni (Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Lisa Loeb).
American Echoes

Once Pablo Picasso said that he came to destroy art. He first mastered the old styles of drawing, and used them to create some extremely realistic images. He had the skills to make any painting he wanted, and he explored realism, impressionism, sculpture, and more. He knew all the rules, but then he decided he was going to break them. He was provocative, innovative, and a master of his craft.
I wish to take the same perspective into music. I can only continue to grow and evolve; master not one genre of music, but really delve into each of them and put that into practice. I want to take the old instruments, old styles of producing, and old ways of writing music, but mix them with new discoveries and instruments into something nobody has ever heard.
I came to do what Pablo Picasso came to do. I came to destroy music.
