Satyricon
Satyricon
Black metal band from Oslo, Norway, founded in 1991.

Initially formed as a death metal band Eczema in 1990 by bassist Wargod and drummer Exhurtum (Carl-Michael Eide), who were joined by Lemarchand (Håvard Jørgensen) on guitar. In 1991 they started to play black metal and renamed the band to Satyricon. At this point also Satyr (Sigurd Wongraven) joined the band as a vocalist. The group recorded their first demo "All Evil" in June 1992. Right after this Exhurtum was kicked out of the band and also Wargod quit and left the music scene for good. Lemarchand's position in the band was also wavering as from here on he was on a session member status. For the second demo "The Forest Is My Throne" (1993) they were accompanied by a session drummer Frost (Kjetil-Vidar Haraldstad) while Satyr did the vocals and was generally becoming the driving force of the band. Lemarchand contributed guitars and bass on the demo, but was fired after the recordings. Some time after Frost became a full-time member and in the autumn 1993 they recorded their first full length album "Dark Medieval Times", which was released in 1994 by Satyr's own label Moonfog Productions. Despite being out of the band and having joined Ulver, Lemarchand did participate on the album although he was never credited for it on the album booklet.

Between 1993-1996 the band was also joined by Samoth (Tomas Haugen), who played bass and guitar on their second album "The Shadowthrone", which was released in 1994. Samoth was replaced by Kveldulv (Ted Skjellum, a.k.a. Nocturno Culto), who played the second guitar between 1996-1997 and participated on the third album "Nemesis Divina" (1996) and also played live with the band. Without these two exceptions, Satyricon has been a two-man force ever since Frost joined the band. They have however utilised various session musicians throughout the years for live situations and also for album writing purposes.

Satyricon's early works were strongly characterised by the use of folk music influences and medieval stylistics and "Nemesis Divina" can well be considered as the peak of this era and style. After this there was a clear change in the band's musical direction and overall sound as the 1999's "Rebel Extravaganza" saw the band dropping the folk elements and striving for more guitar driven and dissonant sound and generally more contemporary imagery. Since then Satyricon has been pushing the boundaries of traditional Norse black metal, not only by incorporating more heavy metal/rock elements into music, but also by becoming generally a more mainstream media figure in Norway. On their most recent releases: "Volcano" (2002), "Now, Diabolical" (2006), "The Age Of Nero" (2008) and "Satyricon" (2013), the band has found its musical niche in their unique style of blackened heavy metal, which rely heavily on guitar riffs and often complex timings rather than keyboard laden atmospherics.

In October 2015 Satyr was diagnosed with brain tumor, which forced him and the band for a short break. In February 2016 Satyricon returned by performing a "Nemesis Divina" 20th anniversary show in Oslo. The album was also remastered and re-released later in the spring and was followed by selected anniversary shows on European festivals.

Goatwhore
Goatwhore
Goatwhore are a death metal band from New Orleans, LA, USA, who also included black metal and sludge influences in their sound. They were formed in 1997 by guitarist/vocalist Sammy Duet following the break-up of his previous act, Acid Bath. Vocalist Ben Falgoust (also of Soilent Green) joined the following year and the two have been the group's only continous members.
Inquinok
Inquinok
Inquinok is an epic, melodic extreme metal band out of Seattle, Washington. The band was founded in the summer of 2000 by Krelian and had it’s first full lineup in May of 2001.

Inquinok released their demo entitled “Shadows Amongst The Moonlight” in 2003 which featured four very dark and atmospheric tracks. The demo received much praise from fans of extreme metal and metal in general and was reviewed positively in several magazine/websites including Metal Maniacs. The band played many shows before going in to the studio to record their debut album, including supporting bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Incantation and Sadus.

Inquinok’s debut album entitled “Entranced By Twilight’s Gaze” was released in January of 2006. Entranced By Twilight’s Gaze featured ten songs, showcasing great songwriting and musicianship as well as excellent solo work from then new lead guitarist Mordred. The album established Inquinok as a promising new metal act and a band to look out for.

In early 2007, the new lineup was fully realized. The band's lineup became Krelian on vocals & rhythm guitars, Mordred on lead & rhythm guitar, Kythving on bass, and Tormentor on drums. Inquinok had become more aggressive and darker then ever, partly due to the addition of Tormentors fast and brutal drum style. The band showcased their new material at various shows including their headlining of the Northwest Deathfest in 2007 and supporting such bands Mayhem, Nachtmystium, Wolves In The Throne Room and Enslaved.

In 2010, Inquinok released a single 'Tormented Skies' before starting work on their 3rd album which would be called 'Dimension of I'. 'Dimension of I' which featured 9 brand new tracks was released digitally in January 2013. After taking a break after the release to work on some other projects (Shaded Enmity, Somnae) the band will be returning in full force for live shows and a 4th album.
