Derv Gordon, the lead vocalist of the The Equals, in his 1st Seattle performance.
Formed in the UK in the 1960s The Equals many classics include “Baby Come Back”, “I Get So Excited”, “Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys” and “Police On My Back”, which was covered The Clash. The many covers of thier songs include Ty Segalls recent cover of“Diversion”. The Equals were a pioneering mixed race group that while popular in Europe never performed in The United States. While their best known member is Eddie Grant (Electric Avenue), Derv has always been their lead singer.
Dervs first ever U.S performance in 2017 performing to a sold out crowd at The Elbo Room in San Fran. As with that performance, he will backed by Bay Area band So What. Their debut album, “Hard Gum” is on Just Add Water Records. Bandleader Jason Duncan is also currently working on the first ever Equals biography, slated for publication in 2017.

So What
So What
There weren't any groups playing the kind of music the lads in SO WHAT wanted to hear so they had to invent their own genre. They call their music "Hard 'Gum". As in, hard bubblegum. Basically, super catchy stick-in-your brain-for-days melodies like THE OHIO EXPRESS, CRAZY ELEPHANT, and JOEY LEVINE, but without the twee subject matter and much, much LOUDER. SO WHAT are an amalgam of the records they collect: JUNKSHOP GLAM/BUBBLEGUM/PROTO PUNK. They come on like the bastard sons of THE EQUALS, JOOK, and bubblegum/glam era GIORGIO MORODER. Their sweet spot of reference is '68 to '74, before the dreaded disco plague forever ruined going the discothèque. SO WHAT just wants you pretend disco never happened and clap your hands and stamp your feet!
The Knast
The Knast are four young men with a vision. Hailing from Seattle, Washington, they bring to the table an enthusiastic love of music, as evident in their record collections of epic proportions.
One finds the band’s sound as more of a "lost 45" than a revivalist act, whilst keeping the sound fresh, and bridging old and new.
